NATO warns Putin

June 26th, 2007

NATO Secretary-General Jaap de Hoop Scheffer warned Russian President Vladimir Putin on Tuesday that blocking independence for Kosovo could allow the Serbian province to slide into instability. He made his point very forcefully:

Mr. Putin, wasn’t sure he understood everything, so he asked a few questions:

At the end, Mr. Putin wasn’t very pleased with the message:

Proof: watch not stolen!

June 15th, 2007

Proof that Bush’s watch was not stolen in Albania.

Hoax: Bush’s watch stolen

June 12th, 2007

This is obviously a hoax on the part of media, and is a sign of unprofessionalism to even feature such a story without a careful examination. There are two videos I’ve seen of the moment, from two different angles, and is clear that at one moment, President Bush pulls out of the crowd, takes the […]

Bush hints at unilateral recognition of Kosova’s independence

June 10th, 2007

From the press conference of President Bush and Prime Minister Berisha in Tirana:
PRESIDENT BUSH: What you do is you get your diplomats working with Russian diplomats, as well as EU diplomats, to see if there is not common ground. In other words, there has to be an effort to see if we can’t find a […]

Interestingly, I didn’t find a single Albanian name on the list of the signers. I wonder how many of the petitioners would actually bother to write on behalf of the […]

Just plain weird!

Cats and Dogs, not to be undone by the Donkey and the Wolf. Now it’s getting a little weird … seriously

A cat nurses a puppy near the town of Mamurras, 50 km (31 miles) from Tirana, May 24, 2007. The cat, which had lost her kitten, started caring for the puppies after their […]

Albania gets desperate to join NATO

May 26th, 2007

As reported here:
“The last meeting of the NATO countries’ foreign ministers considered it indispensable to add more forces to Afghanistan, therefore we decide to send a supplementary company of our troops there,” Sali Berisha told his cabinet.
There is an old, very old lamenting Albanian song, about a solder serving under the Ottoman Empire, crying out […]

Albania wins Eurovision!

May 15th, 2007

The Albanian song “Ndarja” of Soni Malaj has won this year’s Eurovision contest. The song however was performed by the Serb singer Marija Seferovic as “Molitva”, and presented as a Serbian song. This is the second time Serbia plagiarises in a Eurovision contest. Several European newspapers (The Sun, Bild among others) reported the plagiature. […]
